Quote from mr_x :right I managed to try patch X and Y in single player last night and compare them. On all tracks (apart from South City) there's an fps drop of between 5 and 20fps. On South City there's a drop of 40-50fps. (by myself on-track, no AI).

To sum it up:
X runs fine, not a problem with it at all.
Y is un-playable at times - especially on South City.

I also tried a few different drivers I was using nvidia drivers that I downloaded from their website in November. I tried the ones on the CD supplied (yes I removed them properly first), and then tried the latest driver.

The latest driver gave an fps boost on Y, but it wasn't noticable at all. from 10-20fps on South City I got a boost of an extra 5fps on top of it.

I'm not quite sure about your case, but maybe you have driver's conflicts? I used to had it on my old PC, and it was giving some very nasty results in some (not all) applications. Maybe uninstalling ALL the drivers and install them again might work?

Quote from lucifer_greece :Nevertheless, i don't see the reason why the Developers wouldn't allow every tire in every car. Surely, most of the people would use slick tires all the time, however some of us would like a greater variety. Give us the tires!!!

Still chances of this to happend are much lower than re-releasing of SlickMod

Maybe he just forgot about it? Atleast trying gives you some chances

hmm...never experienced this, in theory, when the driven wheels are in the air they rotate freely and the load on the transmition is reduced, so it might be enough unloading to shift. I don't know for sure

It does, I have extra pedal on the left tho (other pedals set)

Quote from Speeder75 :Hi

I have Logitech Formula EX wheel. It has a brake and throttle pedals. I used to play right foot on throttle and left foot braking. The problem is that position is so unnatural to me and I got some pain in my left shin and ankle. So I am beginning to play the right foot throttle and brake way. I just want to know if anyone drives that way or used to drive that way. How long will it take to get used to it?

Thanks

I also has this wheel, and I use right foot (mostly) for both throttle and brake but the reason is that my left foot operates the clutch pedal tho

Quote from J@tko :However, in the FBM, you can shift up w/out lifting off from 1st to 2nd and sometimes 2nd to 3rd if you are on the limiter. I think that this is because there is so little power on the limiter that they can change. Probably wrong though!

when you reach the limiter, it shuts the power for instance, therefore unloading the transmition as I mentioned

Quote from lucifer_greece :So... will anyone make an all-tire types application??

Try asking the original creator of Slickmod

Quote from agm_ultimatex :Yeah, I use the shifting type with the cars gearbox. In my, car i have a sequential control that comes along with the automatic. Same thing as most autos have with the 1, 2, 3, D. However this is just easier to use. Timing lift offs with the throttle and up shifting and allows the car to shift quicker. So I was wondering if flatshifting with sequential in LFS will cause the temp to rise quicker or not.

As I said, XRR has sequental gearbox (its sequental, and it doesn't care what way of shifting in setting you use (player options: Sequental/Auto/H-pattern)) with ignition cut doing the "lift" of the throttle for you, therefore lifting your foot of accelerator is absolutly unneeded in XRR. In cars with sequental gearboxes without ignition cut (Only FBM, MRT AFAIK) the gear simply won't change under load (clutch isn't needed with such gearboxes unless taking off in 1st gear) so you have to lift the foot in them

XRR has a sequental box with ignition cut and it doesn't use clutch during shifts, while FZR has H-gate gearbox, so you'll have to care about shifts

Try reinstalling LFS itself, my friend has a huge fps drop on his PC compared to X30 patch. Its weird...

Road car variation might work, but I'm not sure about GTR version. It wont work just with new engine and RWD. XF has a quite high CoG and a lot narrower tyres. It also has no adjustable downforce, worser aerodynamics, so it should be quite a new car, with ony common part with XFR being lights to fit the GTR class ...

Good idea tho

Quote from Boris Lozac : you have to be agressive to be fast..

to a certain limit else it will slow you down...

Sounds like your driving style is the main problem, try driving less agressive

anyone have a setup like this one ? thanks

Just saw this thread, this vid is actually mine

The set I used (patch S times actually ) was the stoppie set but set has nothing to do with the donut itself. The key is to pop rear tyres, thats all that needed

IF you are using sticks for steering and accel/deacceleration, it will be very sensetive, no matter how you set it, but there are thing that might help a bit...Set the lock value of your controller in LFS to 90*. Also, if you can, use less lock in setup...

But its still nowhere near to a wheel, even a cheap non ffb one...I quit playing LFS when my old wheel died, until I bought a new one, even tho I had a pad.

uhm...In standart position -yes, its barely visible, but in Y patch the incar view is quite widely adjustable, and you can easily set it so, so you can see the gear number...

but I have steering wheel switched off as I already have one in my hands...

Quote from ussbeethoven :Actualy my experience on CTRA 1 is not that bad. Of course they are a few people passing with crowbar and bump&run style plus others not paying much attention on using their look buttons, but in general I'd some suprisingly fair and clean battles with drivers giving enough room, aware of their surrounding, avoiding contact and typing an apology for accidents even after race.

I'd second that. CTRA 1 is a good server, I was quite annoyed at first, but with time, the understanding of the need of a certain mindset is needed to race there good. Its a entry level server, and you know what are you dealing with, never expect a driving skill magic from anyone there, and don't rush into group of cars...just being calm and consistent, avoiding crashes etc. in 90% of races means finishing in 1st 8 of racers.

Quote from evilpimp :I think that would be double declutching rather then normal heel-n-toe.

Heel n toe is just hit the brakes, disengage the clutch, blip the throttle and downshift, and ur goooood to go. just press that throttle whenever you have to go again.

agreed. Double declutching with heel toe isn't really needed (especially in LFS) as its mainly used to save up synchronisers, which are quite strong in modern cars...

I'd say its not only bad luck but also a lack of experience and knowledge of how to act in such situations...I haven't had much problems at T1s after I understood that there is no sense to rush in T1, you should let a "fighting" car infront or you both gonna end in the wall etc. Practice is the key
